The Door Is Open!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your prayers, support, and encouragement. Our time at Kennesaw this weekend was a true blessing. We had been told that Kennesaw First Baptist Church was a loving family, and we found that to be true! Our new family voted us in on Sunday!!!!! Eric is now the Equipping Pastor of College and Discipleship! I am so proud of Eric and so excited about what the Lord has done and is doing through this process and open door. We will be moving to Kennesaw Easter weekend. Please continue to pray for us as we make this transition.

Prayer Is So Powerful!
Prayer is so powerful, and we have seen many of your prayers answered!
Thank you for the prayers regarding the loss of Eric's grandma. Grandma will be missed, but she's not gone - just gone before to heaven! The service was beautiful and worshipful. Grandma would have been really proud of Eric; he did a great job with his funeral message. The gospel was clearly presented, Eric spoke from the heart, and Grandma's life was celebrated. Grandma is at peace now!
Please continue to pray for Eric's family in the months to come.
Also, pray for us as we meet with a church this weekend . . .
On August 31, 2008, Eric received an email from Kennesaw First Baptist Church about whether he was still interested and available for the opening at their church for College and Discipleship Pastor.
At the end of October, Eric completed a questionnaire for the church.
On January 13th the pastor of the church called Eric.
On January 15th the head of the search committee called Eric.
On January 18th we had a phone interview with the search committee. That week the committee called Eric's references.
On January 31st the church flew us down for the day to have an interview. About a week later the head of the committee called us to let us know that they feel like Eric is God's man for the job; we feel the same way.
The church has continued to stay in touch with us. We will be meeting with various groups from the church this weekend:
Friday night - meet with the staff
Saturday - morning (meet with the Sunday school teachers), afternoon (meet with whoever from the church wants to see us), evening (meet with the college students)
Sunday - Eric will give his testimony in both services as well as teach the college class
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will be at work in all parts of this weekend. Pray that God will be honored in all conversations, that the church will know how to vote, and that God will speak through Eric in the service and in Sunday school.
We are so excited to see what God continues to do with this open door! We will keep you posted!

What Glory Gloria Now Sees!
Today Eric's beloved grandma went to see Jesus. We've been studying at church what God's Word says about heaven, and how amazing to know that Grandma is worshiping the Lord in heaven right now. Grandma played an instrumental and immeasurable part in Eric's walk with Christ. She was an amazing woman who loved the Lord and her family. She will be missed, but what a legacy for Christ she left for others to remember and replicate.
The pictures are of Eric with Grandma this past Christmas.You can just see their love for each other in their eyes and smiles!
Grandma will always be a blessing to us!

If you have never nailed down your reservations for entering the gates of heaven, we pray that you will do that today! Jesus is the only way there. Let Him in your heart and surrender your life to Him. That's what Grandma did. What a difference that made in her life on earth, and especially for the rest of eternity!

Please pray for Eric and his family during this time of grieving. This week will be especially difficult. We will leave Tuesday morning to go down to be with Eric's family. Pray for Eric as he officiates his grandmother's funeral service on Wednesday morning. The Newest Pampered Chef
I signed up today to be a Pampered Chef consultant. I am so excited about this new opportunity that God has placed before me! I went to a friend's Pampered Chef party on Saturday with expectations of nothing else but to spend time with the ladies. God used that "time with the ladies" as an open door to a new business and provision. I love meeting new people and helping others, so this will be a great fit. I'm having my big kick-off show on March 12th! If you would like to come or have any questions about Pampered Chef, you can email me at erinchef@gmail.com. I'm all about being pampered, so I'm just thrilled that I can be pampered in the kitchen and help others be pampered in the kitchen, too!

The story of Joseph was taught in AWANA the past two months, and this month Joseph is being taught in youth Sunday school. This story, which took place thousands of years ago, still speaks volumes today. Joseph's life parallel's to ours so much. This Sunday's lesson points out that no matter what life may bring or what you may go through, God is still working out his perfect plan for your life. Joseph endured some very difficult circumstances and times of waiting, but he stayed faithful to God. When he was finally appointed by Pharoah to complete a very important task, Joseph was able to look back and see how everything he went through led up to that point and had been essentail in his development for that appointed task of God. God is always at work, equipping His servants to carry out His divine plan. Stay faithful, dear friends! God is working!!!!!!

Moose Tickets Not For Sale!
I'm thinking it's time for a vacation! I have been doing some really silly things this week! Here are the two big ones:
Earlier in the week I "realized" that I had to sell tickets for a wrestling match at school this past Friday night, 1/9. I was so bummed because Eric and I normally go on dates on Friday nights, or spend time with friends. To make sure I didn't forget, I sent myself an email to remind me of my obligation. On Friday I packed enough food for lunch and dinner because I decided that I would just stay at school the whole day. I had great plans to grade and grade and grade until time to work the gate. Around 3:15, while I was grading some quizzes at my desk, I realized something. Friday was the sixth. Not only that, it was also February, not January (1/9). How silly was I! I called Eric and laughed as I told him I would be coming home soon. How did I get 2/6 from 1/9? I have no idea. It gave me a great laugh, though! I got to spend Friday night with my best friend after all!
Tonight Eric asked me to fix a banana smoothie for him while he watched the first NASCAR race of the season. He has been craving one all week. I followed the directions on the package, but the consistency was very odd for a smoothie. I said, "Eric, this smoothie is really milky." I added another banana and some more ice, but that didn't thicken it up much. Eric said that was okay and kindly drank some of his banana "milk". Then I showed him how much "smoothie" was left in the food processor. Eric said, "Erin, you're supposed to make smoothies in the blender, not the food processor." Oops! I thought it looked odd. Well, I knew I had to do something with all that banana milk, so I added half a bag of frozen strawberries to the mix to thicken things up. To my surprise, I made my very first moose! Silly me. What was I thinking? Once again, it gave me a great laugh! It made so much I had to freeze it. We'll see how that goes! Here's a picture of my accidental and silly creation.

A New Year's Rockin' Eve
Happy New Year, everyone! Eric and I are so excited about 2009! 2008 was a very tough year for us, so we are looking forward to what God has in store for the Millers in 2009. I just love how nothing is new to God because He knows all. Because He knows all, He knows that we need fresh starts and clean slates. We pray that the Lord will be honored and glorified through our lives in 2009.
We had the extreme honor of bringing in the new year with some of our youth and college-aged friends from church. We indulged in some fabulous Domino's pizza and competed in some hilarious games! How fun it was to bring in the new year with laughter and good fellowship! Here's a picture of us in our tiny living room about to play a game.

We began our new year with an investment for our family. Yes, meet Wii! Here's our most recent family portrait.
Wii has been with us for a week now. We have so fun together playing sports and exercising with her. Here's Eric bowling.
We decided to use our Christmas money to buy something fun for us to do together, and fun wii have had!
Has Anyone Seen Eric?
Eric has gradually developed a liking for hunting, even though he has not had the opportunity to partake in hunting yet. He enjoys the hunting shows on t.v. , and he actually received some camo at Christmas from my aunt. He liked it so much that he used some of his Christmas money to complete his camo outfit. I'm liking the camo look! Here's hansome Eric blending in with our charming nephew, Noah.
Wising Up
Stepping Up is over, but Wising Up is here! Wising Up is a study of Proverbs focusing on seeking God's wisd
om. I began this study with my Stony Hill sisters last Monday. My pastor's wife has been faithfully preparing a workbook to accompany Beth Moore's video series Wising Up, and I am so excited about what God has in store for this new journey. It is my prayer that I will learn to live successfully and skillfully for the Lord by acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God (Micah 6:8). I pray that I will put into practice all that God teaches me, and that through this study I will wise up!
The End . . . But A New Beginning
Friday ended another semester of teaching. Some days I felt as if the semester would never end, and other days I felt as if the semester was flying by and taking needed teaching time with it. This semester was truly difficult due to added responsibilities and challenging students piled on to my already full teaching tray. Now you know why the blog entries have been so few.
I spent so much time preparing my lessons and investing my life into my students, and all some of them wanted to do was be disruptive and disrespectful in return. They were only thinking about themselves and took advantage of the kindness, grace, and patience I tried to show them. I made it a point to start over each day with them and try to put the past aside, but they didn't even care. That was so incredibly frustrating and wrong. Oh, but how convicting it was! How often have I done the same thing to God! (Maybe not the same way, but sending the same message.) God gave EVERYTHING for me, yet I do not give back to Him what I should. What a daily spiritual challenge those students have been for me to really demonstrate through every area of my life how appreciative and thankful I am for what Christ so humbly did and does for me.
As with all things the Lord brings me thorugh, I learned so much and grew in my faith. Each day completed was a victory because the Lord bestowed His grace, strength, and patience upon me. When days were really tough, I had to remember that I was not at school to get a paycheck, but instead to be a light for Christ as a missionary at my school.
As I look back, I can see doors that the Lord opened for me to speak and teach His truths, even on the campus of a public school. I pray that my students learned more from me than how to write and read better; I pray they learned about the Lord!
I'm looking forward to this upcoming semester of having a fresh start, teaching writing, and exploring God's truths revealed through world literature. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and grace upon grace to sustain me and use me!

Eventful Month
What an eventful month it has been! From carving a turkey at the end of November, grading papers for report cards and progress reports, Christmas productions, college get-togethers, to a sprained ankle, Eric and I were ready for a break. A break is what we had! We returned Saturday from a trip to Atlanta to see our families for Christmas. An entire week was spent with immediate and extended family on both sides, some of whom we had not seen in a year! It was refreshing to see family and have some time away. In addition to celebrating the birth and life of Christ, Eric and I were able to celebrate the life of our niece and nephew, Noah and Emily. We do not see them often, so most of our pictures are of them. To see our Christmas pictures, click on the "Miller Memories" link on the top right side of our blog underneath our picture. Now that we're home, Eric is back at work and I am doing work around the house for us and for school, preparing for the new year ahead.

The theme last night at Sweet Sisters was finding rest when stRESTed, especially around the holidays. We had so much fun wearing our lounge clothes while sharing ways to relax and rest. Tara closed out the night with a devotion about the first Christmas from the book of Luke. Your very sweet sisters in Christ wanted to wish you a happy birthday, so enjoy the video they made for you. 6th Anniversary: Salt and Pepper
Six years ago I married the love of my life and my best friend. Eric and I were married in Jacksonville, FL in 2002. I have absolutely no regrets. I knew soon after we began dating that Eric was God's perfect match for me. We complement each other and make a great team, just like salt and pepper. Having Eric as my handsome husband is a daily reminder of God's sovereignty, perfect plan, and unconditional love for me. It is a true blessing and honor to be the wife of Eric Miller. What We've Been Up To
The Grocery Game
Lately, Eric and I have learned of a way to save money on groceries. We have been "couponing" since the end of September, in addition to participating in the grocery game (thegrocerygame.com). Eric and I enjoy hearing the cashier tell us that we saved more than we spent.
This is a picture of groceries I purchased one day. The total for everything was eleven dollars! The shampoo and conditioner was free!

A Kitchen Blessing
We were blessed with an early Christmas present from my parents: WELL-NEEDED pots and pans. The pans we received for our wedding have been more than loved and were "fried". We have had fun using them!

Friday was a very cold day up here in North Carolina. We awoke to see a shower of snow outside our window. Although the snow did not "stick" around for long, it was beautiful to watch.
Decorating for Christmas
Today Eric and I continued one of our Miller family traditions: decorating for Christmas the Saturday before Thanksgiving! We savored our time together while we listened to Christmas music and decorated our cozy apartment. Here are some pictures of our decorations.
My favorite part of decorating today was Eric leading us in a time of prayer - of lifting up this Christmas season. Our prayer is that Christ will be our focus of CHRISTmas and that everything we do will exalt his name. We are so blessed to serve such a humble Savior - a humble savior who left His throne in heaven to dwell among men and bring salvation!

Watching God Work
What could be better than a night with college kids? Tonight marks another exciting milestone in the Miller household. Tonight Eric and I had the opportunity to jump-start a college/singles ministry at our church, Stony Hill Baptist Church. We had about ten people attend, in addition to our youth pastor Jody and his wife Sarah.

The night started with a game of basketball and some time to socialize. A pizza dinner was next, followed by some prizes, silly contests, and some games. The night ended with a devotion; Eric challenged the group to stay devoted to God, just as Paul was so faithful to do.
Eric and I have been really burdened for college students. They are a group often overlooked, but these students are in such a crucial time in their lives - a time when they will stick with their faith or abandon it. We know for a fact that the Lord was in this night. God provided in amazing ways throuh donations from the community. We are so thankful for these many provisions. Well-needed Weekends
Two weekends ago Eric and I were blessed to accompany the youth of our church to the Fall Retreat: Refuel, Refresh, Refocus. How awe-inspiring it was to witness the Lord at work among the youth of our church.
Last weekend my parents drove up from Georgia to visit us. It was so refreshing to see family! We had a wonderful time visiting and relaxing together.
